The use of metaphor dates back to the antiquity where they were used to embroider and decorate the language of poetry and play.
There have been many approaches to understanding and defining the term “metaphor” which has led to a variety of different views.
In general one can group two basic understandings of metaphor, the literalists, saying that all language is literal opposing the interactionists stating that all language is metaphorical.
